The Competition Commission consists of the Commissioner and one or more Deputy Commissioners, appointed by the Minister of Trade and Industry. The Commissioner, Shan Ramburuth, is the Chief Executive Officer of the Competition Commission and is responsible for the general administration of the Commission and for carrying out any function assigned to it in terms of the Competition Act. The Commissioner is appointed for a five-year term and is accountable to the Minister of Trade and Industry and Parliament. The Deputy Commissioner, Tembinkosi Bonakele, assist the Commissioner in carrying out the functions of the Commission.
